Looking to become a beekeeper? Already a beekeeper and realize that there is a lot more to beekeeping than putting up a box, and getting honey whenever you want it? Our Backyard Beekeeping classes are just what you are looking for.
Bo Sterk shares his knowledge on advanced beekeeping techniques like; marking and clipping queens, treating for varroa and beetles, and honey production.
Learn how to mark and clip queens. These techniques will save you some time identifying queens in the hive, and catching swarms.
Learn how to light a smoker, inspect hives, and honey bee biology in our Beginner Beekeeping classes. This hands-on experience is perfect for new, and soon-to-bee beekeepers.
Being able to see and understand what honey bees are doing is critical to being a successful beekeeper. Reading frames correctly enables you to make the right decision for your colony.
From lighting a smoker to clipping queens, you will be fully immersed in a live apiary during our Beekeeping classes. We put you in the hives, and share knowledge and expertise about managing honey bee colonies.
Picking the right spot to start your apiary is very important. Proper planning can go a long way in determining how successful you are in this endeavor, so getting help from an existing beekeeper can be beneficial in creating the perfect apiary.
Bo Sterk has been a beekeeper for over 25 years. He is a Master Craftsman Beekeeper through the University of Florida, the Founder of Bees Beyond Borders, and Past-President of The St. Johns County Beekeepers Association.
Pests and pathogens are two of the most critical issues for honey bee colonies. Regular inspections, proper treatment plans, and preparedness are essential in maintaining healthy honey bee colonies.
Keeping our visitors safe is a top priority for us. We will supply you with personal protection equipment and make every effort to ensure that your experience is safe and informative.
